{"id":2393,"date":"2013-09-02T12:04:48","date_gmt":"2013-09-02T12:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mycor.iam.inrae.fr\/IAM\/?p=2393"},"modified":"2013-09-02T12:04:48","modified_gmt":"2013-09-02T12:04:48","slug":"article-new-phytologist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mycor.iam.inrae.fr\/IAM\/?p=2393","title":{"rendered":"Article: New Phytologist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/scholar.google.com\/citations?view_op=view_citation&amp;hl=fr&amp;user=1BZ2sa0AAAAJ&amp;sortby=pubdate&amp;citation_for_view=1BZ2sa0AAAAJ:mWEH9CqjF64C\">Extreme diversification of the mating type\u2013high\u2010mobility group (MATA\u2010HMG) gene family in a plant\u2010associated arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus<\/a><br \/>\nR Riley, P Charron, A Idnurm, L Farinelli, Y Dalp\u00e9, F Martin, N Corradi<br \/>\nNew Phytologist<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul id=\"nph12462-list-0001\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are important plant symbionts that have long been considered evolutionary anomalies because of their apparent long-term lack of sexuality, but recent explorations of available DNA sequence have challenged this notion by revealing the presence of homologues of fungal mating type<em>\u2013<\/em>high-mobility group (<em>MATA-HMG<\/em>) and core meiotic genes in these organisms.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">To obtain more insights into the sexual potential of AMF, homologues of\u00a0<em>MATA-HMG<\/em>s were sought in the transcriptome of three AMF isolates, and their functional and evolutionary trajectories were studied in genetically divergent strains of\u00a0<em>Rhizophagus irregularis<\/em>\u00a0using conventional and quantitative PCR procedures.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our analyses revealed the presence of at least 76 homologues of\u00a0<em>MATA-HMG<\/em>s in\u00a0<em>R.\u00a0irregularis<\/em>\u00a0isolates.
