Mycorrhiza.<\/p>\n<h1><a href=\"https:\/\/mycor.iam.inrae.fr\/IAM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/letacon_2014.pdf\">\u00a0<\/a>Abstract<\/h1>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Production of the black truffle (Tuber\u00a0melanosporum Vittad.) has experienced a decline in France<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">over the last century. Different sociological factors as well as\u00a0climate change have been suggested as possible explanations\u00a0for this decline. The aims of this study were to assess the\u00a0effects of annual climatic variations on black truffle sales by\u00a0analysing reliable data. Over the past 25 years, almost 90%of\u00a0French truffle sales occurred in the southeastern region of\u00a0France and, despite a decrease in southwestern France, for\u00a0the last 25 years, sales were stable for France as a whole. An\u00a0analysis of the two main southeastern wholesale markets\u00a0(Richerenches and Carpentras) revealed that the main factor\u00a0explaining the huge annual variations was the cumulative\u00a0hydric balance from May to August of the year n. For the first\u00a0time, frost days were also identified as an important factor in\u00a0Richerenches. Using the model established for the past\u00a025 years and the climatic data for the Richerenches and\u00a0Carpentras basins, the truffle sales would have been stable\u00a0from 1965 to nowadays. This simulation suggested that the\u00a0production decline observed since 48 years could be attributed\u00a0more to the change of rural world than to the climatic changes.\u00a0The stability of production or the slight increase observed\u00a0during the last 25 years could reflect the input of truffle\u00a0orchards recently planted.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Climatic variations explain annual fluctuations in French P\u00e9rigord black truffle wholesale markets but do not explain the decrease in black truffle production over the last 48 years.
